Beyond the Screen

The pencil sketch was just about placing things: where do the onion bulbs go, how many carrots feel right. Then painting - layering soft underglazes that look nothing like the final colors. The kiln did the real magic - muted pastels turned into a rich, glossy harvest. It's in my kitchen now.

I made these as the first thing for our new home - two cups with saucers, one lemon, one orange. Each has a little cat inside, peeking over the rim with a fruit on its head. They became our morning tea cups.

I shaped this one around an actual butter pack to get the size right. Then painted everything you'd want for breakfast on the lid - an avocado, cherries, pancakes, eggs, a baguette. Inside hides a happy hamster eating a sandwich under the sun. It's the most used piece in the kitchen now.

The biggest piece I've made - a dog's ass lying on its back, taking up the entire table. Now it sits on the balcony under the petunias, guarding the flowers.
